The publishers have put in place tight security to guard against leaks, and no one knew a thing about the plot till early this morning. "We received 150-200 calls enquiring about the book," said Hasan, store manager, Crossword, Residency Road, last evening. They have had approximately 100 bookings and have placed an order for 500 copies this week and 500 for the next, expecting good demand. Likewise, Oxford Bookstore at The Leela Galleria has ordered 250 books and has had 50 bookings. Nataraj, merchandise manager, said, "With him being a famous author, there's sure to be demand." Reliance TimeOut on Cunningham Road received its copies at 6.30 this morning. As for hardcore Dan Brown fans, here's what they had to say about the craze for his book: Natasha Rego, II degree, Mount Carmel College "Dan Brown always brings out the controversial. He manages to bring out hidden secrets from something that seems insignificant for us, something common in our daily lives. You get interested whether or not it's true." Meghna Das, III degree, Mount Carmel College "His previous books were awesome. The best part is that a lot of information can be verified like the 'Last Supper'. The suspense in the books make it interesting." Saina Jaypal, PR professional "Any book of his is filled with controversy, sensation alism and spice. Again, it's a book that is dealing with religion and sensationalism that leads to controversy." Roshni Yathiraj, II degree, Mount Carmel College "The success of his earlier books is one factor. People are waiting to see if he can uncover something new this time. The readers are always waiting for some controversy." Who's he? An American author of thriller fiction, Dan Brown shot to fame with his 2003 novel, The Da Vinci Code. Cryptography, keys, symbols, codes, cults and conspiracy theories are the hallmark of his novels.
