Cricket has been a uniting factor in Dilip Vengsarkar, Avinash Bhosale's over-20-year friendship; now their children are all set to tie the knot

It was cricket that kept ex-cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar and city builder Avinash Bhosale's friendship strong for more than two decades. Now, they are all set to become 'samdhis' with marriage of Vengsakar's son Nakul with Bhosale's daughter Swapnali in February next year.

Bhosale's daughter Swapnali and former Indian cricketer Vengsarkar's son Nakul will tie the knot on February 5, 6 and 7 in a grand wedding function at Jodhpur. The reception will be held at Mumbai on February 12.

Currently, Bhosale is in Delhi making arrangements for his son, Amit's wedding with Shweta Jain, daughter of Kapil Jain of Vardhman Group.u00a0 The wedding is scheduled on December 7. Bhosale was unavailable for comment.

Famous guest list
"I am planning to invite all famous cricketers for my son's wedding", said the former India skipper Vengsarkar.

Without naming any body, he said that many former and current cricketers would be invited for the wedding and reception. The engagement ceremony will take place on November 25, in the city at White house, the residence of Bhosale at Baner. Later on, he said, "We will also invite people from fields other than cricket for the function. But, it will be strictly a family wedding reception," said Vengsarkar.

Vengsarkar is fully aware about Bhosale's fascination for cricket. According to Vengsarkar, Bhosale plays cricket every Sunday in Pune with his close friends. "I had never played with him but let us see when it will be possible in the future," said Vengsarkar.

Son plays golf
Speaking about Nakul, Vengsarkar said that he used to play cricket when he was in Kodaikanal International School.u00a0 He, however, lost his touch when he finished his masters in interior designing in USA. "Now he plays golf, but he is interested in watching cricket," said Vengsakar. "I don't have any idea about Swapnali's interest for cricket," he added.

M N Navale, director of Sinhagad Technical Education Society (SIES) and a close friend of Bhosale said, "I have been invited for the function and I know his (Bhosale) fascination for cricket."
