Mumbai court extends custody of Sooraj Pancholi till June 13. Sooraj was arrested Monday in the Jiah Khan case for allegedly abetting her suicide. We will produce him in court on Tuesday and demand police custody for further investigations,&rdquo; Arun Bhagat, senior inspector of Juhu police station, had said after his arrest. After the arrest, Sooraj&rsquo;s father did not turn up at the police station. But his mother, actor Zareena Wahab, sister Sana and younger brother reached the station. Based on the contents of the letter, the officers on Monday recorded the statements of Rabia and other family members who had alleged that Jiah&rsquo;s troubled relationship with Sooraj was the cause of her death. Rabia had told the police that Jiah had been physically and mentally tortured by Sooraj, and his father Aditya, who had asked his son to stay away from her as she was older than him. She told the police that for the past two months Sooraj had been avoiding Jiah, as Aditya did not like her. She also said that on the day of her daughter&rsquo;s death, Aditya visited their house three hours later and Sooraj did not come at all. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jun/zarina.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 456px;" /> Sooraj&#39;s mother Zareena Wahab (Pic - Shiva Devnath) Sooraj confirmed to the police that he had been trying to avoid Jiah but could not as she was in love with him and kept in contact.u00a0&ldquo;I have given the police the letter and Sooraj has been arrested. I think the police have done their job sincerely,&rdquo; said Rabia.u00a0The police recorded Rabia&rsquo;s statement again and questioned her about the contents of Jiah&rsquo;s letter in her house. Sooraj was then asked about Jiah&rsquo;s abortion and physical torture, as mentioned in her letter. Sooraj confessed to both the allegations, based on which the cops arrested him. A police officer, who is part of the investigation team, revealed that Sooraj said, &ldquo;Jiah was pregnant and I suggested to her that she abort the child, as we were too young and I wanted to establish my career. We had fought several times on this.&rdquo; Rabia had on Sunday said that her family was not happy with the police investigations and had decided to make public the letter in which Jiah had written how her relation with her boyfriend had gone sour, and she did not want to live anymore. She accused him of ruining her life. The police officers are waiting for the handwriting analysis report to establish that the letter had been written by Jiah herself, in order to make the case watertight.u00a0
