The Bengaluru city in Karnataka recorded a maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), reported the PTI.
CP Patil, Director of Meteorological Centre, Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Bengaluru said that on April 27, Bengaluru City hit 37.4 degree Celsius, about 3.3 degree Celsius departure from normal maximum temperature, as per the PTI.

This year's record high is yet to surpass the all-time high of 39.2 degree Celsius recorded on April 25, 2016, Patil said.
Meanwhile, offering no respite from the relentless heat, Kalaburgi, which has been recording the highest maximum temperature in Karnataka, witnessed a slight dip. It registered 40.5 degree Celsius on Sunday, while the day before it was 42.4 degree Celsius, according to the IMD data, the news agency reported on Sunday.
While Bengaluru will remain dry on April 30, possibly touching 39 degrees Celsius, IMD predicts light rain in some parts of Bidar, Kalaburgi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Mysuru, Belagavi, Bagalkote and Raichur, as per the PTI.
Solapur hottest at 43.7 degrees Celsius as mercury crosses 40 in many areas
Meanwhile, the temperature in several areas of Maharashtra crossed 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with Solapur the hottest at 43.7 degrees Celsius, a rise of 2.3 degrees from the normal, according to the PTI.
The high temperatures were recorded mainly in western and central areas of the state, as per Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) data.
Notably, a heatwave warning was issued for Mumbai, Raigad and Thane for Sunday, as per the PTI.
A temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius, one degree above the normal, was recorded by Colaba observatory (representative of south Mumbai). At 27.6 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature also rose by 1.4 degrees from the normal, as per the India Meteorological Department, the news agency reported on Sunday.
The Santacruz observatory (representatives of suburbs in Mumbai) recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius, an increase of 4.4 degrees, while the minimum temperature was 27.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.9 degrees above normal, as per data.
Neighbouring Thane recorded a maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius. The other districts where temperatures crossed 40 degrees Celsius include Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (40.7), Jalgaon (42.2), Nashik (41.2), Kolhapur (40.2), Nanded (42.4), Palghar (42), Parbhani (42.8), Sangli (41), and Satara (40.5), the news agency reported on Sunday.
