Heavy rainfall in Karnataka's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/bengaluru-all" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bengaluru</a>, has led to severe waterlogging in various parts of the city.
On Tuesday, Bengaluru witnessed significant <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/mumbai+rains-all" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">rainfall</a>, causing disruptions in daily life of the citizens. Bengaluru's Bellandur area witnessed intense rainfall, resulting in extensive waterlogging on roads and a subsequent three-kilometer traffic jam.
The Manyata Tech Park and Seshadripuram also faced waterlogging issues.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued an advisory, working diligently to address the water-logging situation. They successfully rescued stranded commuters and pedestrians near Bellanduru Kodi, employing a tractor for assistance.
Due to the continued waterlogging in the Bellandur area, commuters were urged to avoid the affected route and utilize the Outer Ring Road as an alternative.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported rainfall in select areas of Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka, with dry weather prevailing in North Interior Karnataka. Notable rainfall measurements included 9 cm in Somwarpet (Kodagu district), 8 cm in CR Patna (Hassan district), and 7 cm in Tumakuru and Hoskote (Bengaluru Rural district).
IMD forecasted light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers in certain Bengaluru areas within the next 24 hours. The weather agency anticipated generally cloudy skies for the next 48 hours, with the possibility of occasional heavy rain. Maximum and minimum temperatures were expected to hover around 29 and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to the weather monitoring website Skymet Weather, Bengaluru received 66 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, marking the highest 24-hour rainfall in October since 2017. The monthly average for October is 186.4 mm. Additional rainfall was predicted in the coming 2-3 days.
