Maharashtra rains: Landslide at Kasara Ghat disrupts Mumbai-Nashik highway traffic

Nashik District Collector Ayush Prasad said the district is under a red alert issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) amid forecasts of very heavy rainfall. He said intense downpours are being witnessed in the Western Ghats-bordering talukas of Trimbak and Igatpuri

Heavy rains triggered a massive landslide at the Old Kasara Ghat stretch, disrupting traffic on the key Mumbai-Nashik route after tonnes of mud, rocks and uprooted trees fell onto the roadway. No casualties were reported in the incident, according to reports.
Following the incident, highway police reached the spot and launched debris-clearing operations. One lane was reopened soon after, allowing restricted vehicular movement on the affected route.
