Kerala crime: Man dies of multiple injuries after killing wife in Pathanamthitta

Kerala crime: A 43-year-old man died after being found with multiple injuries had allegedly killed his wife in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala on Thursday, police said, according to the PTI.


The news agency reported, the man, who was found with multiple severe injuries, succumbed to his wounds at a hospital.


The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday in the Kunnamthanam area, under the jurisdiction of Keezhavaipur Police Station.


According to the police, Venukuttan allegedly fatally stabbed his wife, Sreeja, who was 40-years-old, at her residence. Later, he was found with 13 deep cuts on his body and died at a hospital.

Only a thorough investigation can uncover the exact reason behind Venukuttan's death, police added.

The police said that there had been ongoing family issues between the couple, leading Sreeja to stay separately. 

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 26-year-old man allegedly set his mother on fire after quarreling with her on the issue of preparation of meal in Maharashtra's Raigad district, police said on Wednesday, according to the PTI.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening at Navkhar village near Revdanda in Raigad, an official said, as per the PTI.

The woman, who sustained serious burn injuries all over the body, succumbed during treatment this morning at a state-run hospital in Alibag, he added.

The victim was identified as Changuna Namdeo Khot, an official said.

The police said, Changuna Namdeo Khot's son Jayesh allegedly beat her up after they fought over preparation and serving of meal to him. In a fit of rage, he allegedly dragged her to an open space in front of the house and then collected dry wood, he later allegedly set her on fire, the police official said.

According to the PTI, after getting information about the incident, the police officials of the Ravdanda Police Station in Raigad rushed to the spot and shifted the injured woman to the hospital, he said.

A team of police officials nabbed Jayesh from the nearby forest. He had fled away following the incident, the official said. Adding that the further probe is on going.
