A file photo of the control room at Connaught Place</td></tr></tbody></table>The Operation Control Centre (OCC) at the hi-tech control room situated in the plush new building - Metro Bhawan in Connaught Place - had a leaking roof and the water reached up to the wires due to which there was a short circuit at around 11.30 am. It created havoc with the signaling system of the busy line causing several trains running late. The number of passengers waiting at various stations steadily swelled and soon there was chaos. The building was opened just a month ago in March and the official spokesperson Anuj Dayal rejected the failure of signal system as a "minor problem". "It was only a signal break and the trains were running slow for some time. The services were restored soon," Dayal told MiD DAY. However, a senior Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official, requesting anonymity, confirmed that the signaling system collapsed due to spillage.u00a0 Later, the operations control was transferred to the Shastri Park OCC and normal services could be restored only by 5 pm. Earlier, all trains were used to have their signal control system at the Shastri Park depot. But, in March the operations control for the Dwarka-Indraprastha line was transferred to the newly-constructed center at the Metro Bhawan at Barakhamba Road.
