Had it functioned during the emergency, lives would have been saved and less damage would have been caused," said Atul Garg, deputy chief fire Officer. A major fire broke out in the third floor of the Anusandhan Bhavan, near Parliament at around 7.06 pm. According to the fire officials, 14 fire tenders took around two hours to douse the blaze.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0 An eyewitness said when the fire broke out around 60 employees who were inside the building rushed out but a few of them went to the fourth floor where two of them suffocated to death. "We did not pay much attention to the smoke when it first broke out as there was some repair work on in the building," said Pritam Chand, a guard outside the building.u00a0u00a0 The five injured were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
