On Tuesday, two unidentified men broke into a house in Amravati and stole cash and valuables worth Rs 5 lakh while posing as census surveyors, according to police. The cops told PTI that the incident happened in a Rathi Nagar flat.
The perpetrators informed a woman, who was the only family member at home at the time of the incident, that they were carrying out a census and requested that she fetch the family's Aadhaar cards. According to the official, they stormed into the house as she was entering, threatened her with a knife, and stole property worth Rs 5 lakh before making off, the PTI report added.
The cops said that a probe is underway.

Meanwhile, in another incident from Navi Mumbai, a 23-year-old youth was found in possession of 22 grammes of MDMA, a narcotic believed to be worth Rs 5.5 lakh. He was successfully arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Navi Mumbai police during a recent operation. After an ANC official received a tip on Monday night, the arrest happened close to a hotel gate in the Koparkhairne neighbourhood of Navi Mumbai, a report in PTI stated.
According to the report, MDMA also referred to as ecstasy, was found to be the material that had been confiscated during the operation. The accused, a resident of Kausa in the Mumbra area of the Thane district, was taken into custody.
Per the applicable provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a case has been filed against the person, the PTI report added.
According to the report, the cops are investigating where were the drugs sourced from and to whom was it intended to be delivered.
During the 'Advantage Vidarbha' industrial expo, which was hosted on the Nagpur University campus in Ambazari, a 37-year-old school teacher named Mangesh Vinayakrao Khapre was allegedly caught on camera stealthily filming women using the lavatory. The accused, a Kasarpura, Nagpur, resident, was allegedly using his mobile to covertly record women via a lavatory window throughout the three-day event, which came to an end on Monday, reported PTI.
According to the report, when a woman reported the assault to the event organisers, a police inquiry was launched, bringing the incident to light. The festival gate's designer, Khapre, was identified by the Ambazari police using CCTV footage. Khapre taught painting at a famous private school.
When Khapre's phone was taken from him after he was arrested, it turned up videos of around a dozen women that had been taken during the previous three days. A few videos had been removed, the report added.
According to the report, Khapre has been booked under applicable provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code. He was presented in a local court and was granted bail on Tuesday.
