A couple was killed after a tempo rammed into their motorcycle in Georai taluka of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-lpg-leak-leads-to-explosion-during-cylinder-replacement-in-beed-23626760" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra's Beed </a>district, police said on Saturday.
The accident took place near Kolgaon on a national highway around 7 pm on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Baburao Ram Bale (62) and his wife Mangal (58), <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-minor-run-over-by-dumper-in-kandivali-wests-charkop-locals-block-road-in-protest-23624543" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">residents </a>of Nimgaon Mayamba in Shirur Kasar taluka of the district.
The couple had gone to Georai to attend a family wedding and were returning home on their motorcycle when the accident occurred.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/speeding-tempo-hits-sewer-workers-in-mumbais-powai-three-critically-injured-manhunt-launched-to-nab-driver-23628564" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">tempo </a>lost control and crashed into their bike, due to which the victims were thrown on the highway and died on the spot due to severe injuries.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time. The bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination.
A case is being registered against the tempo driver, and further <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-piling-rig-that-killed-cop-did-not-belong-to-project-contractor-tells-bmc-sparking-twist-in-deadly-mankhurd-highway-accident-23629412" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">investigation </a>is underway.
