<p>According to an Action Taken Report released by District Civil Surgeon Dr Navnath Yampalle on June 10, four accused have been arrested in connection with the sex determination racket operating in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/pune-crime-branch-raids-illegal-project-x-house-party-in-tulapur-over-100-detained-23634103" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Kedgaon</a> and nearby areas. Three accused, including doctors, are yet to be traced.</p>
<p>The case came to light on May 18 after reports and videos allegedly linked to the illegal practice surfaced on social media.</p>
<p>Following verification, a complaint was lodged at Yavat police station, Pune. An FIR (No. 464/2026) was registered on May 20 under relevant provisions of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&amp;PNDT) Act.</p>
<h2>Four arrested</h2>
<p>Those arrested include Anand Giri, Atul Ankush Jadhav, Narendra Dhake, and Dr Tukaram Mote. Police said a bail plea filed by one of the accused was rejected on June 7.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/pune-crime-minor-held-for-killing-three-year-old-in-chakan-23628841" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Police</a> have identified the absconding accused as Dr Mangesh Suresh Mali of Sparsh Clinic in Bhor taluka, Dr Sundaram Kadam of Uruli Kanchan and Dr Swati Lavangare. Police teams are conducting searches to trace them.</p>
<h2>Inspection drive</h2>
<p>Following the allegations, the health department launched a large-scale inspection drive across Daund. On June 5 and 6, four teams inspected 25 sonography centres, 20 abortion centres, and 19 nursing homes.</p>
<h2>Fresh FIR filed</h2>
<p>A district-level inspection at Lavangare Maternity and Infertility Hospital in Kedgaon on June 6 allegedly found serious violations of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP Act) and deficiencies in records.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Following this, a separate FIR was registered on June 7 under provisions of the BNS and MTP Act. Authorities have also sealed equipment at the hospital.</p>
<h2>Probe continues</h2>
<p>Officials said the probe is continuing, and more people may be arrested as investigators look into the financial and operational aspects of the racket.</p>
