Akola records country’s highest temperature at 46.9 degrees Celsius as heatwave conditions grips parts of Maharashtra

Data from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Nagpur shows that Amravati followed closely at 46.8 degrees Celsius. Wardha registered 46.4 degrees Celsius, while Yavatmal touched 46 degrees Celsius. Nagpur recorded 45.4 degrees Celsius and Chandrapur reached 45 degrees Celsius

The Akola district in Maharashtra has recorded the highest temperature in the country at a blistering 46.9 degrees Celsius, as several parts of the Vidarbha region continue to reel under an intense heatwave, reported the PTI.

According to officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these severe conditions in parts of the state are likely to persist until Tuesday.
