A court in Maharashtra's Latur district has sentenced a 21-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after convicting him of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. The conviction came under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following a trial in which the prosecution relied on witness testimonies, scientific evidence and the police investigation.

The District and Sessions Court delivered the judgment on Thursday, holding that the prosecution had successfully established the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt.
