Waste collection across Pimpri-Chinchwad has been disrupted after a massive mound of legacy waste collapsed at the Moshi Garbage Depot, affecting routine operations and garbage unloading. Rescue work, heavy machinery movement and safety restrictions have delayed waste disposal

Urban planners and residents alike say the incident underscores the urgent need for alternative dumping sites.
The impact of the devastating accident at the Moshi Garbage Depot is now being felt across Maharashtra’s Pimpri-Chinchwad city, with the city's solid waste management system facing severe disruption. Following the collapse of a massive mound of legacy waste onto the administrative building of the waste-to-energy plant, routine operations at the depot have been significantly affected as rescue operations continue.
The Moshi depot in Pune district handles a substantial portion of the city's daily municipal waste.
