Passengers can lodge complaints with the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pune, if private buses charge fares exceeding the government-prescribed limit during Diwali. The RTO has warned of action against bus operators violating the fare regulations under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the relevant rules.
With passenger numbers rising during the festive season, complaints of private bus operators charging arbitrary fares are common. To prevent passengers from being overcharged, the Pune RTO held a meeting with representatives of private bus owners' associations to discuss measures to curb fare violations and ensure road safety.
