Tata Power commissions 100.8 MW wind farm in Maharashtra's Dharashiv

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited TPREL a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited has commissioned its 1008 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtras Dharashiv district further expanding its renewable energy portfolio and boosting clean power supply to MumbaiThe electricity generated from the project will be supplied to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to help meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation RPO targets and support its transition towards cleaner energyThe Jewali Wind Project comprises 28 SG 36145 wind turbine generators based on advanced horizontalaxis wind turbine technology It is expected to generate around 299 million units of clean electricity annually enough to strengthen the utilitys renewable energy mix significantlyAccording to the company the project will offset nearly 245 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions every year contributing to Indias decarbonisation goals and Tata Powers clean energy ambitionsWith the commissioning of the Jewali project TPRELs wind energy portfolio has crossed 39 GW including more than 13 GW of operational capacity while the remaining projects are under various stages of development across Rajasthan Gujarat Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh Karnataka and Tamil NaduThe addition also takes TPRELs total renewable utility capacity to 116 GW Of this 67 GW is operational comprising 54 GW of solar and 13 GW of wind capacity while another 49 GW is under implementationIts underconstruction renewable portfolio includes around 21 GW of solar 26 GW of wind and 02 GW of battery energy storage system BESS projects which are expected to be commissioned in phases over the next six to 24 monthsApple announces Rs 100 crore renewable energy investments in IndiaMeanwhile the American tech giant Apple in May announced a Rs 100 crore investment in India as part of its broader plan to become carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030The investment will be made in partnership with one of the countryrsquos major renewable energy developers CleanMax and will support the creation of over 150 megawatts of new clean energy capacity The trilliondollar company said that this would be enough to power nearly 15 lakh Indian households every year with room for further expansion in the coming yearsStrengthening clean energy in Apples supply chainThe company said the initiative is aimed at increasing the use of renewable energy across its supply chain operations in IndiaThe American multinational tech company had earlier worked with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects that now supply 100 per cent renewable energy to its offices and retail stores in IndiaSarah Chandler Applersquos Vice President of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation said ldquoOur commitment to the environment is also a driving force for innovation across the company and around the worldrdquo She added ldquoWe are proud to expand our efforts to invest in Indiarsquos clean energy economy and protect the countryrsquos precious natural resourcesrdquo
