<p>Two workers were killed and a minor boy sustained injuries after they <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-man-dies-after-falling-into-abandoned-well-in-borivali-during-t20-world-cup-celebrations-23620404" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">fell into a well</a> during boring work in a village in Maharashtra&rsquo;s Beed district, police said on Saturday, reported PTI.</p>
<p>The accident occurred near Kharat Adgaon village in Majalgaon tehsil on Friday evening, an official said.</p>
<h2>Platform snaps during installation work</h2>
<p>According to police, the workers were standing on a swing-like platform suspended inside the well while installing a horizontal-boring machine when the structure snapped and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-black-panther-rescued-from-50-foot-well-in-ratnagiri-after-36-hour-operation-23622245" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">plunged into the well</a>, causing all three to fall.</p>
<p>Two workers died in the accident, while a 16-year-old boy, who was part of the team, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Rural Hospital in Majalgaon, the official said, according to PTI. &nbsp;</p>
<h2>Police register accidental death case</h2>
<p>Officials said efforts are underway to retrieve the remains of one of the deceased workers. Police have registered a case of accidental death.</p>

<p>The incident took place near Dhaniwari village in Dahanu taluka around 4 pm. The Eicher tempo was reportedly carrying more than 50 passengers who were travelling to attend an engagement ceremony of Balaram Jairam Dandekar from Bapugaon Khadkipada village.</p>
<p>According to police, the impact of the collision was severe, causing both vehicles to overturn and trapping several passengers underneath the wreckage.</p>
<p>Senior Inspector Amar Patil of Kasa police station said 20 injured passengers were rushed to Kasa Upazila Hospital and nearby medical facilities, the news agency reported.</p>
<p>Preliminary findings suggest that overloading of passengers, high speed, a narrow stretch of road, and loss of control by the tempo driver may have contributed to the crash.</p>
<p>Following the collision, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/photo/in-photos-13-killed-20-injured-after-tempo-packed-with-wedding-guests-crashes-in-palghar-111161/1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">chaotic scenes unfolded on the busy highway</a> as local residents, police teams and emergency responders rushed to the spot. Rescue operations were carried out to pull victims from the mangled vehicles, according to the PTI.</p>
<p>Officials said five people died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries later. Several injured passengers remain in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise.</p>
