Vidarbha is set to witness a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-update-scorching-vidarbha-leads-heat-surge-as-wardha-records-states-highest-at-44-5-degrees-celsius-23634731" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">mixed spell of intense heat, thunderstorms</a>, and gusty winds over the next five days, according to the latest forecast issued on Sunday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).&nbsp;
The region may see a rise in maximum temperatures by 2&ndash;3 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours, followed by largely stable conditions thereafter.
<h2>Monsoon progress and synoptic situation</h2>
As per the IMD&rsquo;s synoptic update, the northern limit of the southwest monsoon continues to advance steadily across central and eastern India, with favourable conditions for further progress into Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, and parts of Chhattisgarh over the next two to three days.&nbsp;
A persistent seasonal trough extending from central Pakistan to Bangladesh across multiple states is also influencing weather conditions over central India.
<h2>Rainfall and temperature in Vidarbha</h2>
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-state-continues-to-bake-under-severe-heat-conditions-23634894" rel="none">Rainfall activity across Vidarbha</a> remained scattered with moderate intensity at isolated locations. Maximum temperatures stayed above normal, while minimum temperatures remained near normal.
The highest temperature was recorded in Yavatmal at 42.4 degrees Celsius, while the lowest minimum temperature was reported in Washim at 23.2 degrees Celsius.
Significant rainfall (1 cm and above) was recorded in pockets of Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Bhandara districts, including areas such as Umrer, Bhiwapur, Kalmeshwar, Nagbhir, and Bramhapuri.
<h2>District-wise weather forecast</h2>
Nagpur
Nagpur is likely to see <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-citys-wait-for-southwest-monsoon-continues-as-heat-and-humidity-rise-23634761" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">light rainfall</a> at isolated places on Sunday, June 14, and Monday, June 15, followed by dry weather on Tuesday, June 16.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40&ndash;50 kmph are expected on most days, while isolated heatwave conditions may develop on June 16.
Light to moderate showers are likely to return on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18.
Wardha
Wardha may experience a combination of heatwave conditions and thunderstorms over the forecast period. Heatwave conditions are likely at isolated places between June 15&ndash;17, while thunderstorms with gusty winds (40&ndash;50 kmph) may occur intermittently along with rainfall on select days.
Bhandara
Bhandara is expected to receive light rainfall throughout the period, with frequent thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40&ndash;50 kmph. Moderate showers may occur intermittently.
Gondia
Gondia is likely to see widespread light rainfall activity at isolated places, with a slight increase in showers towards June 18. Thunderstorm activity with gusty winds is expected daily.
Chandrapur
Chandrapur may witness light rainfall on June 14&ndash;15, followed by heatwave conditions on June 16&ndash;17. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 50 kmph are likely throughout the period.
Gadchiroli
Gadchiroli is expected to remain under persistent light rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40&ndash;50 kmph across all five days.
<h2>Western Vidarbha: Alternating heat and storms</h2>
Districts including Amravati, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-tree-in-middle-of-road-near-dahisar-station-raises-safety-concerns-23633972" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Akola</a>, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim are expected to experience fluctuating conditions ranging from dry spells and heatwave conditions to thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 40&ndash;50 kmph.
Amravati: Thunderstorms on June 14, heatwave conditions on June 15&ndash;16, followed by renewed rain activity on June 17&ndash;18.
Akola: Thunderstorms on June 14, dry spell on June 15&ndash;16, heatwave on June 16, and storms returning from June 17.
Yavatmal: Heatwave conditions likely from June 14&ndash;16, followed by thunderstorms on June 17&ndash;18.
Buldhana: Mostly dry till June 16, with thunderstorms and light rain expected thereafter.
Washim: Heatwave conditions on June 14, dry spell on June 15&ndash;16, and thunderstorms returning on June 17&ndash;18.
