The highest temperature in Maharashtra was recorded today to be at 38.7 degree celsius in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-thane-city-records-48-7-mm-rains-iron-arch-collapses-on-road-amid-gusty-winds-in-navi-mumbai-23353713" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Nandurbar</a>, said the IMD on Thursday. The lowest was recorded in Mahabaleshwar at 22.8 degree celsius, a few degrees higher than the usual figure.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, most of the state saw temperatures at or lower than 36 degree celsius.&nbsp;
Mumbai&rsquo;s Colaba observatory recorded 32.8 degree celsius while the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-imd-issues-lightning-warning-for-vidarbha--23353557" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Santacruz observatory</a> recorded 33.9 degree celsius on Thursday. The neighbouring districts of Thane and Palghar experienced temperatures around 34 degree celsius.&nbsp;
As per an official release, significant amount of Rainfall observed over Maharashtra, excluding Vidarbha, on Thursday. Ratnagiri's Chiplun recorded the highest rainfall of 46.5mm.&nbsp;
The weather department has also predicted light to moderate rainfall for <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-forecast-of-thunderstorms-rain-in-latur-and-nanded-23349726" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Thane, Mumbai, Palghar, Raigad</a> as well as for districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada for the next five days.
Meanwhile, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur in Ahmednagar, Pune, Sholapur, Nanded, Latur, Akola, Osmanabad, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, Yavatmal, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Bhandara and Amravati, said the IMD. A yellow alert has been issued for the said regions.&nbsp;
Maharashtra weather updates: Forecast of thunderstorms, rain in Latur and Nanded
The weather department has issued alerts in Latur and Nanded districts of Maharashtra, warning of gusty winds, thunderstorms and light rains till May 21, officials said here on Friday, reported the PTI.
"Thunderstorms with wind speeds of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-parts-of-state-see-temperatures-above-40-degrees-celsius-jalgaon-sizzles-at-45-2-23350405" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">40-50 kmph</a> are likely in the two districts till Sunday," said a release.
Rain and thundershowers are also predicted on Monday and Tuesday (May 20-21) in both the districts.
Mumbai, Thane and adjoining areas may witness thundershowers
Earlier, the weather department had on Thursday issued a 'yellow alert' for Mumbai on May 16.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), "Hot and humid condition. Possibility of light rain or thundershower towards evening were very likely."
The IMD Mumbai on Thursday also issued a nowcast warning.
It said, "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and Moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Kolhapur, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Latur, Dharashiv, Sangli, Satara and Nashik during next 3-4 hours. Take precautions while moving out."
Meanwhile, a yellow alert was also issued for Mumbai's adjoining areas including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, etc.
A dust storm followed with rains and gusty winds had on Monday lashed parts of Mumbai and neighbouring areas.
Mumbai had also witnessed several disruptions following the dust storm and unseasonal rains in the city earlier this week.
The Mumbai Metro services were suspended between Aarey and Andheri East metro stations after a banner landed on the overheard wire due to strong winds
Suburban services on Central Railway were affected after an overhead equipment pole between Thane and Mulund stations got bent due to strong winds, an official had said on Monday.
The suburban services on the Main Line have been suspended, the chief spokesperson of Central Railway had earlier said.
City also witnessed tragedies including structures collapse in Wadala and Ghatkopar areas.
In Wadala, two people were injured after an under-construction metal parking tower to collapse on a road in Wadala area.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse incident in Mumbai rose to 16 after two more bodies were recovered from the collapse site by the rescuers including the NDRF, the officials said.
Days after conducting the rescue and relief operations, the searches for the victims were called off by the rescuers on Thursday.
