<p>Fifteen <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/delhi-restaurant-fire-tragedy-17-foreigners-among-21-killed-in-malviya-nagar-pm-announces-rs-2-lakh-ex-gratia--23633491" rel="nofollow">people injured in the Malviya Nagar fire incident</a> are currently admitted at Max Hospital in the Saket Complex and recovering from their injuries, officials said.&nbsp;</p>
<p>According to the hospital, 13 of the patients are foreign nationals. Medical staff confirmed that 14 patients are being treated in ICUs and wards, and all are in stable condition, reported ANI.</p>
<p>One patient is still on ventilator support, while five patients have been taken off ventilators and are showing signs of improvement. Doctors said all patients are receiving continuous care and close monitoring.</p>
<h2>Fire incident claimed 21 lives</h2>
<p>The tragic fire broke out earlier this week at a bed-and-breakfast establishment in Malviya Nagar, Delhi.</p>
<p>The incident claimed at least 21 lives, including 17 foreign nationals, and left several others injured. Rescue teams faced difficulties due to blocked exits and safety issues inside the building.</p>
<h2>Safety lapses under investigation</h2>
<p>During the investigation, authorities found multiple fire safety violations and serious lapses in the building&rsquo;s infrastructure.</p>
<p>Officials reportedly discovered that windows and glass panels were sealed, preventing smoke from escaping. They also found that the basement entrance was locked from inside, delaying rescue operations.</p>
<p>Rescue teams took nearly 10 minutes to access the basement, where six to seven people were later rescued.</p>
<h2>Owner arrested and legal action taken</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/photo/in-photos-delhi-police-begins-probes-after-malviya-nagar-hotel-fire-kills-21-111432/4" rel="nofollow">Police have arrested Lovkesh Bajaj</a>, the owner of Flourish Stays Hotel, and a Delhi court has sent him to four days of police custody.</p>
<p>He has been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, mischief by fire, negligence, and endangering human life.</p>
<h2>Government response and strict warning</h2>
<p>Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has warned of strict action against officials found responsible for fire safety lapses, unauthorised construction, and other violations.</p>
<p>The Chief Minister said laws are being strictly enforced, with provisions for imprisonment and heavy fines for those found guilty of negligence.</p>
<p>Authorities are <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/malviya-nagar-fire-preliminary-inquiry-suggests-short-circuit-as-possible-cause-of-deadly-blaze-that-killed-21-23633620" rel="nofollow">continuing to investigate the cause of the fire </a>and possible regulatory failures. Officials are also examining whether safety norms were ignored and if any administrative lapses contributed to the scale of the tragedy.</p>
