Manmit Pardeshi (38), died during the dialysis procedure due to excessive bleeding, according to family members, while doctors at the hospital said that death was due to cardiac arrest. Family members allege that negligence by the technician conducting the dialysis and doctors not responding to the patient&rsquo;s deteriorating condition had led to the death. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/nov/Manmit-Pardeshi.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 560px;" /> Tragic: Manmit Pardeshi, who died during routine dialysis Family members claim that doctors failed to perform required checks of vital signs or to look for signs of blood loss. Manmit used to frequent the hospital twice or thrice a week to undergo dialysis. When he was admitted at 1 pm on Thursday, he called his wife to the dialysis room. &ldquo;After the dialysis started, his wife noticed that he was bleeding from his thigh and she informed the attendant in the room. The attendant replied saying this was common, and the bleeding will stop after some time,&rdquo; said Subhash, Manmit&rsquo;s brother. &ldquo;After hearing the assurance, my sister-in-law was relaxed and went outside. But after some time Manmit called out her, and complained about restlessness. After repeatedly asking doctors to monitor Manmit, my sister-in-law raised an alarm since she felt that her husband&rsquo;s condition was deteriorating. An attendant came and started giving emergency medical treatment,&rdquo; Subhash said. During this time Manmit&rsquo;s wife telephoned Subhash and other relatives, and apprised them of the situation. &ldquo;I immediately reached the hospital and asked for the technician, but he was not at the hospital. I saw a doctor and nurse pumping Manmit&rsquo;s heart,&rdquo; said Subhash. &ldquo;I managed to get hold of the technician&rsquo;s mobile number and telephoned him. But he spoke to me rudely, and said that another technician was on duty, and that he will come tomorrow. But this was of no use, as Manmit had left the world forever,&rdquo; Subhash said. &ldquo;How can a staff member run away when the patient needs them? Also other staff ran away, as soon our relatives started arriving at the hospital,&rdquo; Subhash added. Nanda Pardeshi, Manmit&rsquo;s uncle also highlighted the carelessness at the hospital. He said, &ldquo;The hospital could have saved my nephews life, but they were negligent. Strict action should be taken against the hospital authorities so that no other patient undergoes the same fate.&rdquo;u00a0 The other side Dipali Kunjir, administration head at Sahyadri Hospital,said, &ldquo;On four to five occasions earlier, Manmit has been admitted to the ICU during dialysis, as he was critical. Many patients have low blood pressure after dialysis and on Thursday, unfortunately, he [Manmit] died. Also when his wife pointed out the bleeding, our technician had done dressing to stop the bleeding. Our hospital has a good backup of doctors to tackle any serious condition, which is not available in various hospitals where dialysis is available.u00a0

A routine dialysis procedure ended in tragedy after a patient was pronounced dead at Sahyadri Munot Hospital in Swargate on Thursday.
