Man killed in Rohini car blaze

In a bizarre incident, a man was burnt to death inside his car near Japani Park in Rohini Sector 11 late on Monday night.

A police officer said that the deceased was sitting inside his white Maruti Zen (DL9CE9325) when all of a sudden the vehicle went up in flames. Seeing a thick cloud of smoke emanating from the engine of the car, a passerby made a call to the PCR at around 12:15 am.

Fire brigade official said that two fire tenders were sent to the spot after the incident was reported. The fire engines pressed into service took half-an-hour to douse the flames. A police officer said that the victim had suffered severe burn injuries. He was rushed to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors.

"The deceased's body has been sent to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for postmortem. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained," added the police officer.
