Marks racket: Jr clerk held

Poona College junior clerk Salim Majid Shaikh held for using his connections in Exam Dept of university to increase marks of students; cops say person arrested last week in exam ghost-writing racket spilled beans on Shaikh.

The Cantonment police have arrested a junior clerk with the Poona College who they said used his connections in the Examination Department of the University of Pune to pass failed students. Identified as Salim Majid Shaikh (42), the clerk was arrested on Sunday.

The police said Shaikh used to run the racket with Gaus Shabbir Shaikh, a Std VII dropout and garage worker from Camp who was arrested on October 8 by the Social Security Cell and Cantonment police for sending bright students to write examinations in place of others in some reputable colleges in the city.
