The district collector recently asked a civil surgeon to submit a report on the Maval incident, where women had allegedly undergone abortion after sex determination tests was performed on them on March 3.

The incident came to light after Varsha Despande of Lek Ladki Abhiyan, an NGO, was informed about the abortions by a primary health worker from the area. The civil surgeon and the police were allegedly passing the buck regarding registering of the complaint against the doctors involved in the case.u00a0
