Around 110 tenants of the society have planned to come together and ‘celebrate’ Election Day. Hasmukh Furia, one of the residents said, “Prabhat society is like one big family. We celebrate every festival together. For the first time, we have decided to celebrate Election Day like a festival as well.”
He added, “Usually on the day of voting, people tend to take it like any other holiday. Some don’t even leave their homes and others go out and relax. However, the priority should be voting and not relaxing.”
Another society member, Bakul Vyas said, “This election, we have decided to make voting day as a day of festival. We have planned the whole day for people to come out of their homes, participate and most importantly, vote.”
On Thursday, members of the society will be served food so that housewives don’t have to spend time in the kitchen. Ratilal Sethia, a resident, said, “Women will not have the excuse of working in the kitchen.
They can come out with the family and caste their vote.” Another resident, Mohini Bhimani said, “I’m happy with the plan that will inspire people to come out and vote. We will have mango juice and puris for breakfast. Then we’ll go to the polling booth. There will be lunch in the afternoon and then we’ll have a nice get-together with games and contests.”
The residents have also planned a lucky draw contest, for which they will have to show the voting ink on their finger. Bharti Shah, a resident said, “Not only the people who vote, but children below 18 are also invited to partake in the fun-filled activities.”
