Mahavir Jain, owner of the shop sensed something amiss when he couldn&rsquo;t locate his employee and called his mobile, but it was switched off. After checking his inventory, he realised he was robbed and informed the cops. Police rushed to Singh&rsquo;s residence in Marol, Andheri (E), but it was locked. Neighbours informed the police that Singh was seen leaving the house with his luggage earlier in the day. Cops then entered the house, and after rummaging through the his few belongings, found a mobile memory card, which was filled with Bengali songs. After browsing further through the contents of the memory card, they found a self-taken photograph of the accused. A co-worker informed cops that Singh was a native of Dadpur district in West Bengal, and police immediately sent a copy of the photograph to the local police station. West Bengal police then alerted their network of informers, who traced Singh&rsquo;s precise address, and on Tuesday, the local police arrested Singh after he returned to his village to visit his relatives after being on the run for two months. Unfortunately, police recovered only a part of the booty from him, as he had sold a part of the loot to Kumar. Nitin Patil, assistant inspector with Khar police station, said, &ldquo;He was absconding for the past two months. We arrested him and his associate Ranjeev Kumar who purchased the stolen jewellery. The gold was sold at various jewellery shops in Zaveri Bazaar, Andheri and Dadar.&rdquo; Police booked Singh under Section 381(theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master), while Kumar was booked under Section 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC. They were produced before a Magistrate, who remanded them to police custody.u00a0

With help from the West Bengal police, Khar police have nabbed Manoj Lalji Singh (27), an employee of a jewellery shop who stole 390 gms of gold from his employer two months back.
