Markets rebound in early trade tracking firm global trends
Equity Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rebounded in early trade on Tuesday after two days of decline amid firm trends in global markets and buying in IT stocks. The 30-share BSE benchmark gauge Sensex climbed 191 points to 82,250.42 in early trade after a positive beginning. The NSE Nifty went up by 64.9 points to 25,010.35. From the Sensex firms, Tata Steel, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, ITC, Tata Consultancy Services, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank and Asian Paints were among the biggest gainers.
Elphinstone Bridge row: Residents threaten to go on hunger strike over delayed written assurance from MMRDA
Though the state government issued an official statement announcing the redevelopment of 19 buildings in the Elphinstone area and promised residents new homes at the same location, no written assurance has been provided to them yet. Fake baba cons Khar woman, flees with 17.5 grams of gold chain in the name of ‘ritual’
The Khar police are searching for a fake baba who deceived a woman and fled with her 1.5 tola gold chain in the Khar Danda area on May 9. According to officials, the accused, dressed as a sadhu, entered the housing society in broad daylight, claiming he could solve the woman’s problems and improve her financial condition before escaping with her jewellery.
