Heavy rain alert in Tamil Nadu as southwest monsoon nears; 16 districts under watch

According to the weather department, a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining south Kerala is helping create conditions suitable for the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has forecast widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu over the next five days, with several districts expected to receive heavy rain as conditions become favourable for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, reported the IANS.

Weather officials said the monsoon is likely to advance into Kerala within the next three to four days.
