Monsoon triggers rise in Shigella, Chikungunya and influenza cases in Kerala

As the monsoon gains strength across Kerala, health authorities are witnessing a surge in communicable diseases, with cases of Shigella, Chikungunya, influenza, leptospirosis and brain fever being reported from different parts of the state.

According to data from the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), 24 people have died due to various communicable diseases since June 1. The department has also recorded 12 suspected deaths linked to infectious diseases during the same period, reported PTI.
