Zu's a month old, but the restaurant's address or contact details are nowhere to be found on the Internet.

In these times, when one usually attempts an online search for just about anything, this oversight seemed callous on the part of Zu's management.

Armed with word-of-mouth information that it was above Marimba Lounge, near Fun Republic, on Veera Desai Road, we made our way.

Creamy Caramel.

We took a seat in one of their low tables with a circular diwan-like seating arrangement and going along with their Arabic vibe, began with Shish Taoukh (Rs 250) and Mushroom Galauti (Rs 210).

The joint was completely empty save for us, as a music channel's animated VJ blared on an overhead projector.

Occasionally, Marimba's loud chartbuster playlist wafted over to us creating an odd medley of Bollywood and Sean Kingston.

The starters cheered us up though. The Shish Taoukh was delicately spiced in a white gravy and had a slight drizzling of chocolate sauce. The sweetness added to its taste.

The Mushroom Galauti came with a delicious stuffing of cottage cheese and celery and we gobbled it, greedily.

They don't plan on serving liquor yet, which was a shame, because the starters would go perfectly with tall, iced cocktails. Besides, they don't serve regular water.

Isn't there a ruling about every eatery being bound to serve regular water?

For the main course, we ordered Risotto Primavera (Rs 300), Moroccan Chicken (Rs 290) and Char Grilled Prawns (Rs 360). The vegetarian risotto was a bland lump of rice in white sauce and veggies.

The Moroccan Chicken served with rice and veggies was too salty or tasteless in parts. The Char Grilled Prawns that arrived on a bed of lettuce was an improvement.

It tasted fresh and tender but should've been in the starter section of their menu than the mains. The saving grace was dessert.

The Creamy Caramel (Rs 55) was perfectly done. When and if their bar opens, we can imagine Zu's turning into a cozy lounge. Then again, they need to do something about their music.
