Not only this, the situation will remain the same for the next week too until civic authorities sort out permission issues required to complete the task. In the meantime, residents staying in and around Kaveri Nagar are distressed with the situation, more so because the area lies close to a school. The corporation has kept around 30 huge pipes lying beside the road for more than a month to build storm water drainage lines. The trenches that were dug up are open for the past 15 days. Vikram Sutar, a resident of that area whose son studies at the local school, said that he is concerned about his son's safety. "It's a slope area and the road is still not built. If one of these pipes comes rolling along, even two adults won't be able to stop it. The corporation just can't leave the pipes lying there without any support." Yogesh Kale, another parent says that precaution is better than cure. "The authorities are just waiting for some mishap to happen. The situation is a threat for the security of children. Not only the pipes, but trenches are also an issue because they have been left open." Seema Pardesi, a dry cleaner, whose shop lies close to the dug up trenches, said, "The situation is pathetic, especially during morning hours. There are school buses, cars, bikes all trying to move at the same time. This leads to a heavy traffic jam everyday." Schools are taking extra effort to ensure students' safety. Sarika Polkamwar, School Co-coordinator and Acting Principal of Pumpkin Patch, said, "We don't allow parents to leave their children outside the gate because kids might wander outside and put themselves into trouble.
