One set of special trains—numbered 01125 and 01126—has been scheduled around Independence Day. Train 01125 will leave LTT at 10:15 PM on August 14 (Thursday) and reach Madgaon at 12:45 PM the following day. Its return journey, Train 01126, will depart from Madgaon at 1:40 PM on August 15 (Friday) and arrive back at LTT by 4:05 AM the next morning

To accommodate the extra passenger traffic expected during Rakshabandhan and Independence Day 2025, special trains will run between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai and Madgaon Junction in Goa.
One set of special trains, numbered 01125 and 01126, has been scheduled around Independence Day. Train 01125 will leave LTT at 10:15 PM on August 14 (Thursday) and reach Madgaon at 12:45 PM the following day. Its return journey, Train 01126, will depart from Madgaon at 1:40 PM on August 15 (Friday) and arrive back at LTT by 4:05 AM the next morning.
These trains will pass through several important stations, including Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Chiplun, Ratnagiri and Karmali, among others. They will feature 22 LHB coaches, including 1 First AC, 3 AC 2-tier, 7 AC 3-tier, 8 sleeper coaches, a pantry car, and generator cars to ensure passenger comfort.
Another pair of trains, 01127 and 01128, will run over the weekend. Train 01127 is set to depart LTT at 10:15 PM on August 16 (Saturday), reaching Madgaon by 12:45 PM the next day. Train 01128 will make the return journey, leaving Madgaon at 1:40 PM on August 17 (Sunday) and arriving at LTT by 4:05 AM the next morning.
These trains will follow the same route and halt at the same stations. The coach composition is slightly different, with 1 AC 2-tier, 6 AC 3-tier, 9 sleeper coaches, 4 general coaches, 1 SR coach and 1 generator car, again totalling 22 coaches.
Bookings for Train 01126 and 01128 will open on August 9, 2025 and can be made through PRS counters, the IRCTC website, or the Indian Railways enquiry portal.
Mumbai: All hurdles cleared for 238 AC local trains, says Railway Board chief
Indian Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar, during his visit to Mumbai on Monday, announced that all hurdles for the much-awaited 238 AC local trains have been cleared and tenders will be floated soon. In addition, two non-AC local trains with automatic door-closing prototypes are expected to be ready by December 2025.
Kumar also directed Mumbai rail authorities to begin readiness work for 15-car train operations across all stations, stressing on better Metro integration and faster execution of infrastructure projects. He spoke to mid-day’s Rajendra B Aklekar on a wide range of issues related to Mumbai’s suburban railway system.
