The order is based on the suggestion made by on February 7, 2010 by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram at the conference of chief ministers. The state has acted on the suggestion only three years later, even though the matter was discussed in the presence of the state CM Prithviraj Chavan at a state level conference with police officers on August 30 last year. In its order, the state home department noted that police officers involved in investigative work often have to bear the costs for the same. The government does not reimburse the money that they spend. Henceforth, money spent for travelling and other daily expenses will be sanctioned for the investigators from the investigation fund. The government will be following the model that exists in Karnataka. Policemen from the state have been complaining for years about the expenses they have to incur on tickets when they travel for the purposes of investigation. This has often been their response when faced with criticism over their tardiness in solving crimes and the poor quality of investigation. According to an officer, the state government, along with senior police officials, has been exerting pressure on lower rank officers to finish investigations in time and nab culprits with alacrity. The funds will help the eight different teams formed for investigations into Dr Narendra Dabhokar&rsquo;s murder. The officers elected to these teams have been asked to work exclusively on this case till they crack it. u00a0
