Mumbai Metro One has rolled out a series of engagement activities to welcome and engage Children to mark this year's Children Day. These include special fares of Rs 5 for children up to the age of 12 on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays from any station to any station of Mumbai Metro One, contests to win free passes from Kidzania, first ever showcase of Metro Depot and free ride on Metro train for underprivileged children.
Mumbai Metro One spokesperson said, "We are committed to going beyond our role as the top and respected transport utility of Mumbai to playing a wider role in the society. The series of events for children are a conscious effort on our part to bring about a sense of belonging and ownership amongst commuters."
The special price of Rs 5 will start from November 12 and will continue till December 31. In addition to the weekends, the children will enjoy the special fare on public holidays like Christmas also.
Mumbai Metro One further joins hands with an NGO, for providing joy rides to children from less privileged backgrounds, on November 12 and 14. In addition, the children will also have a lifetime opportunity to visit the Mumbai Metro One depot in DN Nagar on November 12. The officials of the Mumbai Metro One have arranged for a guided tour of the depot for the kids wherein they will be showcased how the Mumbai Metro One runs and controlled in an automatic environment and will receive a firsthand understanding of Metro system.
Mumbai Metro One will also hold an online contest for children with free passes to Kidzania for the winners. Mumbai Metro One spokesperson added, "In our endeavour to become Metro with a heart, we keep conducting outreach programs for special kids, NGOs and less privileged sections of the society. This helps Mumbai Metro One become truly peoples' Metro."
Spread over four weeks in July-August 2016, the Mumbai Metro One made special efforts to provide a platform for its commuters to enjoy fun and creative pursuits through the hugelysuccessful Majhi Metro Festival, one of the top public arts events in Mumbai, which saw a participation of over 16,000 commuters in three competition categories of painting, poetry and photography.
