Mumbai: Twin piping for Tansa pipeline
Updated On: 21 September, 2014 06:49 AM IST | | Chetna Sadadekar

The BMC has decided to replace the rusted pipeline of Tansa within the next two months. They will use the process of twin piping that will ensure that water supply is not disturbed during the process

For a city that receives a pretty decent amount of rainfall every year during monsoon, it always faces water scarcity and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has to resort to water cuts. Every year, rusting pipelines cause severe water leakage. Now, to put an end to this menace, the civic body has come up with a plan of twin piping, which essentially means that the rusted pipes would be replaced without disturbing the water supply.
