Three days after the death of Pukhrimayum Akhtar Hussain, a 35-year-old waiter who collapsed after allegedly trying 12 samples of wine at a tasting workshop held for staffers of Khar&rsquo;s Italian eatery, Yellow Bar All Day, the post-mortem was finally conducted at Cooper Hospital post-mortem center, Vile Parle, on Saturday.

Forensic experts claimed that it was the police&rsquo;s delay in registering the panchnama that deferred the post-mortem, and results could be affected.

Speaking to sunday mid-day, senior police inspector with Khar police station, Dattatray Bhargude, said, &ldquo;We visited the crime scene along with two forensic experts on Friday evening. We have procured CCTV footage of the post-mortem.&rdquo; A forensic official said, on condition of anonymity, &ldquo;There was no need to wait for the punchnama to conduct the post-mortem. It should&rsquo;ve been done within two hours of the incident. Delay in the post-mortem and sending viscera and other collected samples for chemical analysis can defer the results.&rdquo;

Forensic experts had told mid-day on Friday, that prima facie, the death could be due to poisoning from chemical reactions. Colleagues said Hussain had tasted around 10 different samples and had a full glass of wine. Since the death occurred in mysterious circumstances, conducting the post-mortem in time was crucial, they claim.
The Khar police have registered an Accidental Death Report.
