Narendra Modi rolls out world's largest state-run healthcare programme

The scheme will provide a cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year, for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation through a network of Empanelled Health Care Providers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the 'Ayushman Bharat -Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)' here deemed as the "worlds largest government-funded healthcare programme", targeting more than 50 crore beneficiaries.

The scheme will provide a cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year, for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation through a network of Empanelled Health Care Providers (EHCP). The EHCP network will provide cashless and paperless access to services for the beneficiaries at both public and private hospitals.
