Neighbours foil robbers'bid to loot businessman's house

A three-member gang made a vain bid to loot a granite businessman's house in Basavangudi on Sunday night.

Two of them posing as policemen on the pretext of conducting an enquiry barged into Dinesh Bhora's house.u00a0 Dinesh's cousin Ashish, who came to the house,u00a0 sensed something fishy.

Even before he realised that the cops were fake, another person in mask and wielding a knife entered the house. Dinesh and family raised an alarm and the neighbours rushed to their help. One of the gang members was caught while the other two managed to escape. He was tied to an electric pole and beatenu00a0u00a0 up severely. The neighbours suspect police played a role in the case as they found a few numbers saved under 'police' in the robber's mobile phonebook .
