Over 100 passengers on a Kathmandu-bound SpiceJet flight faced serious inconvenience at Delhi airport on Thursday morning after the aircraft developed a technical fault, forcing an emergency return and deplaning, reported the ANI.
Nepal Gen Z protests that began earlier this week continued on Thursday.
According to a video journalist from ANI, who was onboard, SpiceJet flight SG41 was originally scheduled to depart at 8:10 am, but was first delayed to 9:30 am.
After boarding, the aircraft taxied briefly on the runway without any update from the crew. During this time, passengers were stuck inside the cabin for over an hour, enduring non-functional air conditioning, the ANI reported.
Eventually, the aircraft returned to the parking bay, where passengers were told that a technical issue had caused the delay. They were then asked to disembark and were made to wait in a bus near the parking area, the journalist said.

The disruption comes just days after SpiceJet cancelled all Kathmandu flights scheduled for 10 September after the unrest in Nepal.
In a travel advisory shared on social media platform X, the airline stated, “Due to the prevailing situation in Kathmandu, our flights To/From Kathmandu stand cancelled for 10th Sep’25. The information will be communicated to all the passengers via SMS/Email on their registered contact details.”
Passengers were advised to contact the 24/7 customer helpline or use the airline’s online portal for rebookings or refunds.
The cancellations and delays come amid escalating political unrest in Nepal, where at least 31 people have died and hundreds have been injured in violent youth-led protests over corruption and a controversial social media ban.
On Monday alone, 19 protesters were killed and nearly 500 were injured in clashes near Kathmandu’s Federal Parliament and other major locations, according to The Himalayan Times.
Although the government lifted the social media ban late on Monday night, fresh protests broke out hours later, with demonstrators accusing the government of ongoing corruption and heavy-handed suppression.
