After junior college teachers, now non-teaching employees of high schools are threatening to go on strike during the upcoming state board exams over their long pending demands. The Maharashtra State High School Non-teaching Organisations’ Council (MSHSNOC) Monday has stated that if the state does not take back some of its previous directions, then they will go on a strike from February 12.

To put pressure on the authorities, hundreds of employees from across the state protested at the central building yesterday.“As per a government resolution as many as 35,000 posts of lab assistant, peons and naiks have been become surplus.

According to this GR, the posts of lab assistant and naik will not be a full-time post and they will be treated as part-time employees. We strongly object these new regulations,” said Shivaji Kandekar, secretary, MSHSNOC. The list of demands by MSHSNOC includes the taking back of the ‘objectionable’ provisions mentioned in the GR, introduction of promotion schemes for senior non-teaching staff, to approve a full-time librarian and lab assistant for every school and to convert non-teaching employees in to teaching staff. Despite repeated attempts, state education director Sarjerao Jadhav was unavailable for comment.
