A police constable died after he was knocked down by unknown tempo around 9.30 pm near Alandi on Wednesday. Two constables were also injured in the accident.

Driver absconding
The tempo driver is absconding. The Alandi police registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the unknown tempo driver. The accident took place near Hanuman Wadi. The deceased was identified as Vijay Kisan Pokharkar (30). According to the Alandi police, the accident took place when Pokharkar was on his way home in Khed.

The police said Pokharkar was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries upon admission. The two people injured in the accident were identified as Constable S N Divekar and Constable Date from the Alandi police station. They were admitted to a nearby hospital.
