At around 6 pm, Simran Rajpal (30), a housewife, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her house at Barrack No 893 in Ulhasnagar-3. Her one-year-old daughter, Kanishka, was also found lying dead on the bed. At the time of the incident, her husband, Ravi, was at work and both her in-laws had gone to Mumbai to meet some relatives. The family also has another daughter, four-year-old Drishti.

According to a friend, Simran asked the four-year-old Drishti to leave the room on some pretext. She then proceeded to hang herself from the ceiling.
“Her one-year-old daughter Kanishka, who had witnessed her mother hanging herself, seems to have cried profusely after the incident. The trauma was too much for her and she was found dead on the bed beside her mother’s body,” he added.
