Special Operations Group (SOG) of Gujarat’s Surat City arrested 24 people who had allegedly violated externment orders and were found staying in the city without valid reasons during a special checking drive conducted across different police station areas, officials said on Monday.

The operation, conducted on the orders of Police Commissioner Wabang Jamir, was launched after police identified cases in which people externed from Surat for involvement in serious offences had allegedly re-entered the city. The SOG said the drive was aimed at enforcing externment orders and taking legal action against those found violating them.
