On his supporters seeing him as a prime minister, he said: "They (NCP workers) will see lots of things. But for that strength in Parliament is needed. Until the strength is not there, it is not fair to talk about it at least by a person like me." Earlier, addressing a public rally at Shirur, Pawar nevertheless gave an indication of backtracking on his earlier much publicised announcement that he would not be seeking a Lok Sabha seat in the next elections. u00a0 "I am still of the opinion that I should become a Rajya Sabha member being an elder politician. However, the party workers are insisting that I should enter the Lok Sabha from the reconstituted Shirur constituency, said Pawar, whose daughter Supriya Sule will now be the NCP candidate from his home constituency of neighbouring Baramati. u00a0 Deferring the expected announcement on his candidature from Shirur constituency, Pawar said a final decision would be taken at the party's Western Maharashtra unit on February 6. u00a0 Earlier, Maharashtra Finance Minister Dilip Valse Patil in his speech recalled the names of Chandrashekhar, I K Gujral and H D Deve Gowda who, he said, they became prime ministers without the backing of sufficient number of their respective party MPs. "We want a mature and experienced leader like Pawar to enter Lok Sabha and become PM," Patil asserted.u00a0
