Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Tuesday criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut over his social media post referring to violent protests in Albania, accusing him of encouraging unrest and targeting constitutional institutions. Several leaders demanded an apology over his remarks.
The controversy erupted after Raut referred to reports of a fire at Albania’s Supreme Court during anti-government protests and suggested that India should learn from the public anger directed at institutions perceived to be supporting political leaders facing corruption allegations. Reports from Albania confirmed that court offices and other government buildings were damaged during the unrest.
