A person was apprehended for masquerading as an Air Force personnel in a joint operation by a Pune-based Southern Command Military Intelligence team and officials from the Kharadi Police Station, reported news agency ANI.
According to a statement from Pune Police on Sunday, the accused, identified as Gaurav Kumar, was intercepted after intelligence inputs suggested his alleged suspicious activities.
Following a thorough verification process and surveillance, a combined team from Southern Command Military Intelligence and Kharadi Police Station detained Kumar at approximately 8:40 PM on Sunday in Kharadi, reported ANI.
"During the search operation, authorities recovered several items linked to the impersonation, including Two Air Force T-shirts, one Air Force Combat Pant, one pair of Combat Shoes, two Air Force Badges, one Track Suit Upper," said a Pune police official, reported ANI.
Police have registered a case against the accused under BNS section 168 (wearing a uniform or carrying a token used by soldiers) at Kharadi Police Station.
The suspect is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the motives behind his actions and any potential security implications. Further details are awaited.
Builder, 50 others booked for entering businessman's office, seeking money
In another case, a real estate developer and 50 others were booked for allegedly breaking into the office of a businessman in Mahim in Mumbai and also seeking money from the latter, a police official said on Sunday, reported PTI.
The incident took place in February this year but the FIR was registered recently after an initial probe which included checking CCTV footage, the Mahim police station official said.
"On the complaint of businessman Tarik Chunawala, owner of Hotel Al-Lazeez and Bright Guest House near Mahim Dargah, we have booked builder Waseem Khandwani and 50 others. Chunawala, in his complaint, has alleged the accused barged into his office, robbed valuables worth Rs 61.68 lakh and also sought Rs 10 lakh," the official said, reported PTI.
They have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for house trespass and housebreaking in, extortion, voluntarily causing hurt, unlawful assembly, wrongful restraint and other offences, the official added.
