The Supreme Court asked a Maharashtra BJP MLA to mention before the CJI-bench his case challenging the validity of new rules of 'open voting method' to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly.
MLA Girish Mahajan has challenged the Bombay High Court's March 9 order dismissing his plea against the new rules envisaging the 'open voting method' to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. The matter was mentioned before a bench of Justices Uday Umesh Lalit, S Ravindra Bhat and PS Narasimha on account of the non-availability of Chief Justice NV Ramana.
