PM Modi meets Russian Deputy PM Patrushev to boost India-Russia cooperation

Amid global tensions, PM Narendra Modi met Russian Deputy PM Dmitry Patrushev to discuss enhancing cooperation in agriculture, fertilizers, and food processing. The meeting paves the way for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit in December

Amid the ongoing global turmoil, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev on Thursday met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

As reported by news agency PTI, Patrushev while meeting PM Modi exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in agriculture, fertilisers, food processing and other areas of mutual interest.


The Russian Deputy Prime Minister Patrushev is currently on a visit to India as part of preparations for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India in December.



The statement about the Russian Deputy Prime Minister calling PM Modi was informed by the Ministry of External Affairs. The MEA, while posting on social media platform X, said, "They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in agriculture, fertilisers, food processing and other areas of mutual interest," as per PTI. 

Moreover, PM Modi, during his meeting with Dmitry Patrushev, conveyed his warm greetings to President Putin. In a brief statement, Modi further said that he looked forward to welcoming Russian President Putin to India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, as per PTI. 

Earlier during the SCO summit in Tianjin, China, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a bilateral chat with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines amid the global tensions. As per the reports, PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin also had a long chat just before the SCO summit inside Putin’s limousine. While the subject of the talks between Modi and Putin still remains a mystery, Donald Trump, on the other hand, allegedly criticised India, China and Russia coming together.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 17 also greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, lauding his "enormous personal contribution" to strengthening the partnership between Moscow and New Delhi.

In a message published on the Kremlin website, the Russian President Vladimir Putin said, "Dear Mr Prime Minister, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your 75th birthday."

"You are making a great personal contribution to strengthening the special privileged strategic partnership between our countries and to developing mutually beneficial Russian-Indian cooperation in various areas," Putin added.

The Russian President further added that PM Modi has earned the high respect of his "compatriots and enormous authority on the world stage" through his activities as head of government.
