In case of major damages or defect in construction, the amount deposited by him gets forfeited. The PMC is also bewailing about the limited budget to carry out road repair work. According to information provided by road department, there is a 2,200-km road network in the city, which includes 200 km concrete roads. The department has sought Rs 350-400 crore per year from the civic body to carry out the resurfacing and maintenance work, but has received only Rs 70 crore in the past three years. Also, out the total amount, only Rs 40 crore is meant to be used for the repair works. However, according to PMC&rsquo;s own statistics, since 2010 the civic body has collected Rs 70 crore to grant permissions to dig roads for laying cable lines and other works, but it spendonly Rs 3.5 crore to resurface and repair the damaged stretches. Load on roads &ldquo;Tar roads need complete resurfacing every year. In 2001, the number of vehicles in the city was a mere 64,000. But now the number has increased to 23 lakh. This adds to the burden on road,&rdquo; a senior official from the road department said. He added that in last three years, road-digging work has been conducted on total 342-km of roads. This year, the digging work has been done on around 85 km of roads. Certified bad roads In last three days, a committee of engineers surveyed 118 roads of the city and identified 12 roads that got damaged within the defective liability period. These are: Road between Corinthian Club and Mohammadwadi, DP Road in Dattanagar, the road near Mhasoba temple in Kasaba Peth, Timber Market Road, the road behind Bharati Vidyapeeth, road near Hotel Sarja in Baner, DP Road in Baner, Park Enclave Road, Warje Flyover Road, Bhusari Colony Road, Maharana Pratap Road in Phule Peth, and Sahajanand Colony Road.
